Essential Downloads

I have compiled this page to provide you with some essential tools to use with Semiologic Reloaded and Semiologic Pro. This list is not complete, but is always being added to and updated, so be sure to check this page regularly.

I thoroughly recommend this list as software I am using or have used. If you have any suggestions for this list, then please drop me a line, using the contact form, and let me know.

I have implemented this page for you to download some really cool programs to assist you with building your website. Most programs are free, but some cost, but those that do, are well worth the cost. I have added some free zip files of enhancements for your Semiologic website/s, also.

I highly recommend these downloads, as I have or are using them myself, and they are, in my opinion, very useful programs that will help you build a productive and interactive website.

WordPress – THE number 1 free blogging platform. Highly customizable and has 1000's of themes that can be used.

Portable Apps – These are some of the best free applications from open source software that can fit on your USB memory stick. This a great program for when you are traveling or just to free up some space on your computer. Some of the great programs are: Firefox, Thunderbird and FileZilla.

WishList Membership Software – A great membership software that is dead easy to use to be able to create members, subscriptions and reoccurring payments. I thoroughly recommend this.

Gimp – This would have to be THE best image program around. It is equal to, if not better than, Adobe Photoshop. But the best thing is it is FREE. This is truly an amazing piece of open source software.

Notepad++ – This is like the notepad on your computer, but on steroids! Amazing program that is open source and FREE!

LastPass – This is, without doubts, the best login program available. It does the same as Roboform, but totally better. Unlike Roboform, LastPass is Free and there is a Firefox and IE plugin for either, Windows, Mac or Linux. LastPass securely stores your passwords and then you only need one password for LastPass to log you in to any site you have to login.

Hexadecimal Code – These are the Hexadecimal colors. These will assist you with editing colors in CSS.

WordPress Admin Name Changer – Once upon a time you could not change your WordPress admin username, but that has all changed. The WordPress Admin Name Changer plugin allows you to change your admin username. This is convenient if you have bought a blog and need to change the admin username or you simply want to be able to change it to something better.

FileZilla – a Free Open Source FTP program that is very fast, compared to what is available commercially.

CSS Toolbox – a Free CSS(Cascading Style Sheet) Validation, Formatter and Compressor. This is a great program to optimize your CSS.

Keyword Explorer – a Free program that is a Windows software that will help you find out how competitive your keyword phrases are and also help you brainstorm and create good web page titles and headlines.

7-Zip – an Open Source is a file archiver with a high compression ratio. This is a free program that leaves Win Zip for dead. A must have for anyone serious about file compression.

Pic Lens – PicLens is FREE software that helps you create full-screen, immersive slide show gallery through a Firefox and IE plugin.

This is, without any doubts, THE best interactive Galleries creator and browser add ons on the market today. It is easy to install and easy to use. I highly recommend PicLens. Kudos to the developers.
